International Take Your Priest Out For A Beer Day

September 9th is International take your priest out for a beer day. At St. Peter the Apostle, we’re extending it through the month of September!

Did you know that September 9th is International International Take Your Priest Out For A Beer day? On this festive day, faithful Catholics all over the world take their priests out for a beer and get to know them better. It’s a beautiful Catholic tradition that goes back to the time of St. Hopswald of Aleyard, the first man to take his priest out for a beer.

Okay, if you’re getting suspicious by now, Take Your Priest Out For A Beer day is not a real holiday. But why can’t it be?  Priests are real people who enjoy spending time with their flock and getting to know them better – at least Fr. Jerry does. So why not have this opportunity to gather out in one of Parry Sound’s fine establishments, have a beverage and get to know one another? The Fine Print: Fr. Jerry has celiac disease (an auto-immune condition), and as a result he cannot eat or drink anything that contains gluten. Beer has gluten – but wine and many other beverages do not. To remain healthy, Father is strictly gluten-free. For more information on what he can’t have click here. There’s lots he can have though! This food label guide is also helpful. Things marked ‘certified gluten-free’ are usually safe, but always check labels.
